H.R. 676, The National Health Insurance Act
March 18, 2009
In response to our nation’s health care crisis, we urge Peter DeFazio, our U.S. Representative, to sponsor and expedite H.R. 676, The National Health Insurance Act.
H.R. 676 will provide universal access to everyone, with uniform benefits and total portability for all, whether employed, unemployed, or between jobs.
H.R. 676 will limit an individual’s cost, pain and suffering by encouraging preventive care through the removal of financial roadblocks.
Unlike most private insurance, H.R. 676 places no restrictions on choice of health providers or hospitals, and assures a fair payment to providers.
Under H.R. 676 there will be no denial of coverage for preexisting conditions.
H.R. 676 will reduce waste, dramatically reducing the cost of paperwork and profits, when compared to private health insurance.
H.R. 676 will set fair reimbursements for all providers, assure that appropriate health care is delivered, and allow the public system to negotiate volume discount for prescription drugs and medical equipment.
Under H.R. 676, the public sets policies and administers the system, without high priced CEO’s and considerations of the company’s stock performance.
H.R. 676 will promote wise use of our limited fossil fuel resources, since everyone will have the option of choosing a health care provider close to their homes. Currently, many Americans living in remote areas are forced to travel long distances in order to reach a provider who is a member of their HMO, or who will accept medicaid or medicare payments.
