November 8Southwest Oregon Democrats will have the opportunity to weigh in on “What Does Climate Action Look Like to You?” Join a Zoom meeting at 6:00 pm to contribute your thoughts and goals about climate change and how it affects our part of the state.

November 10 – Deadline for 2nd round of feedback on the Democratic Party of Oregon Platform and Legislative Action Items. Check it out here: https://dpo.org/2021-platform-convention/ and then click “Submitting Feedback” at the bottom.

November 12 – Join an Indivisible North Curry County (INCC) Rally in support of passing the Freedom to Vote Act. 1634 Oregon Street (Hwy 101) Port Orford, noon to 1:00.  We will rally along with Americans across the nation for the Freedom to Vote:Time to Act Week of Action. December 24 – Curry County Democrats will be volunteering at the Azalea Park Holiday Light Show in Brookings, helping at the ticket booth and the Snack Shack. Strict COVID protocols will be in place. Volunteers are still needed. Contact Lisa at the CCD office 541-412-3367 or CurryDems.OR@gmail.com

Ongoing – St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Brookings has been able to offer a limited supply of the COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5 -11.  Contact the church at 541 469 3314, 9 – Noon on Monday, Wednesday, Friday for more information on possible future appointments.

Ongoing – City and County Government Meetings. Find out what’s going on in your community.  Share your opinion and get to know your elected members of the City Council and Board of Commissioners. Each meeting has a specified time for citizen comment. Check the links for the rules regarding these meetings. Phone-in options are also available for each meeting.

1)    The Brookings City Council meets every second and fourth Monday at 7:00 pm at the City Hall Council Chambers 898 Elk Drive, Brookings. Check it all out at https://www.brookings.or.us/102/City-Council. Recent meetings have included unanimous votes to limit churches’ abilities to provide benevolent food service, as well as denying KCIW Curry Coast Community Radio’s request for a 90-day extension of their agreement with the city in order to remain on the air until their new site is operational. Residents with Charter Spectrum can view meetings live on their television on PEG Channel 181. 2)    The Gold Beach City Council meets on the first Monday of every month.  Meetings begin at 6:30 pm. Check it out at https://www.goldbeachoregon.gov/. Recent meetings have included discussions on urban renewal and housing issues. 3)    The Port Orford City Council meets the third Thursday of each month at 5:30 pm in the Gable Council Chambers at City Hall. Check it all out at https://portorford.org/city-council/ .

4)    The Curry County Board of Commissioners meets at 9:00 am the first and third Wednesday of

every month at Curry County Administrative Annex, 94235 Moore Street, Suite 122 in Gold

Beach.
